Around fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then located many other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report initial examinations show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.
An important representative stated the attack made him stunned and had to be solved promptly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
